Tom Ellis is an episodic actor on Once Upon a Time, portraying the role of Robin Hood in "Lacey".


Life and Career

Ellis was born in Cardiff, Wales but attended High Storrs School in Sheffield during his education, and was a french horn player in the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra.

His professional acting career began in 2001 when he portrayed the role of John Browdie in film The Life and Adventure of Nicholas Nickleby. He played many other minor roles in the following years such as that of Frank Bennett in Nice Guy Eddie (2001-2002), Timothy in Pollyana (2003) and Dr. Phillip Rider in Messiah III: The Promise (2003), before landing more of his more notable roles such as Dr. Oliver Cousins in the long-running BBC soap opera, EastEnders and Detective Sergeant Sam Speed in a Life on Mars parody featured on The Catherine Tate Show.

One of his best-known roles is that of Gary Preston on BBC1/BBC2 farce comedy, Miranda (2009), in which he portrays the main character's main love interest. In 2006-2007, Ellis was also in Channel 4's comedy No Angels as Justyn and featured heavily in the series 3 finale of BBC1's Doctor Who, "The Last of the Time Lords", as Dr. Tom Milligan in 2007.

He has been cast in other 2013 roles, one of which was that of Robin Hood in ABC's Once Upon a Time, in which he had an episodic role in the 19th episode of the show's second season, "Lacey".

Personal Life

Ellis has been married to actress Tamzin Outhwaite since 2006. On 25 June 2008, she gave birth to Tom's second daughter, Florence Elsie Ellis. He has another daughter, Nora Ellis, from a previous relationship.
