Life and Career
Lucio was born on June 25, 1980 in Denver, Colorado and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Her father works as a prison guard and mother is a retail manager. She has one younger sister. As a child, Shannon did some modelling. She attended John Marshall High School focusing on her studies, playing basketball and running track. Though yearning to be a marine biologist, she changed her mind after an acting course in senior year. Growing up with a highly competitive nature, she also had aspirations of competing cross-country in the Olympics. Unfortunately, a serious knee injury cut off any future in long-distance running.
On the advice of her acting coach, she sent out applications to major collegiate theatre programs. Upon acceptance to the acclaimed University of Southern California School of Theatre, Shannon packed her belongings and moved to the west coast to further her studies and training. While at university, she starred in numerous productions including Fefu and Her Friends and The Love of the Nightingale.
Her first major role was playing Lindsay Gardner on the television series The O.C. in 2003. Another notable role of hers is Beth Turner, the female lead on the paranormal romance television show Moonlight. The character was eventually re-casted with Sophia Myles taking her place. She has guest-starred in shows such as ER, CSI: Miami and True Blood. She also played the recurring character Miriam Holtz on Prison Break.
