Life and Career
Freeman was born in Chicago, Illinois to two successful Chicago attorneys, who also owned a cattle ranch in Montana. She's the youngest of three children with two brothers (voice actor, Crispin Freeman, and musician, Clark Freeman. Freeman graduated from The Latin School of Chicago and then magna cum laude from Middlebury College in 2005, leaving with degrees in Theater and Spanish.
Freeman starred in a thriller film, YellowBrickRoad, which was written and directed by Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland. She has also appeared in several films and television series, and played the character Veronica Sharpe in the award-winning short film, Razor Sharp. The film went on to win "Best Action Film" at the 2007 Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival. She has also appeared in several episodic roles in TV shows as well as several short films.
The following year, in September, Freeman began starring in the Superman-inspired science fiction drama, Smallville, where she portrayed her arguably best-known role of Tess Mercer after the departure of Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor, who, in the show, was Tess' brother. Freeman continued her role as Tess until the show ended its run in May 2011, and Freeman's character died in the final episode.
In different years, Freeman has appeared in all three variations of CSI (Crime Scene Investigation (in 2009), New York (in 2011) and Miami (in 2012)). On January 13, 2012, Freeman was confirmed to be in the television series The Vampire Diaries as Sage in the third season.
In 2011, Freeman was cast in the episodic role of Jack, from classic tale "Jack and the Beanstalk", in a twist of the story done by Once Upon a Time, in the thirteenth episode of the show's second season, "Tiny".
